BIO-MONITORING OF BIRD LIFE
The forests have been the recent subject of investigations into the species of bird life inhabiting the region. Biologists working with PEQ are conducting studies on the slopes of Yalijux, Chamá, and in the Laguna Lachuá National Park through the communities of Rocjá Pomtilá and Faizan.
What we have found is an incredible diversity of migratory and endemic birds. These projects continue to provide us with indices to describe the quality of our forest and monitor levels of deforestation throughout Alta Verapaz.

These biologists are capacitating the campesinos in these areas so that they can carry out the tasks of monitoring their mountains, taking different counts throughout the year.
